I’m excited to start my weekly letter. That’s right, I decided to do a weekly letter, not monthly! What I can say is it will not include politics. I believe we all have enough of this coming at us daily. Just me, John Muenzer, an average guy with a lot of stories and life lessons along the way. I’m a storyteller… mostly because I’ve collected enough material over the years!

My weekly letters will be filled with personal experiences and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. After 42 years in business, being a husband and father to seven children, spending countless hours swimming every day, and accomplishing the Triple Crown and Grand Slam of Swimming, I’ve had a pretty full life. And now, with my 18th grandchild on the way, it seems the stories just keep coming.

There’s no shortage of experiences to share, and hopefully, a few lessons worth passing along.

The stories will be all-encompassing. They’ll range from significant victories to painful losses, and even moments when the bar seemed impossibly low.

I would argue that some of my experiences, on their own, were enough to destroy one’s soul. But those were also the moments when faith, family, friends, and the will to never give up showed up at my doorstep. And, more often than not, they were exactly what I needed to keep moving forward.

I’ve often wondered why God has blessed me with so many experiences in this life. I say that because people often tell me, “It’s amazing that these things happened to you,” or, “You should write a book!”

Maybe I will someday. But for now, I’d rather let these stories grow beyond me. My hope is that, through the people who read them, they’ll spread and take root, reaching places I could never reach on my own.

I think of it like a great willow tree, with one story becoming another, and another, until those experiences branch out into thousands of new directions. If something I’ve lived through can encourage, inspire, or simply make someone stop and think, then perhaps there was a reason for it all along.

My weekly letters will be random, based on whatever is on my mind that week. And I’ll tell you right now, I’m excited to share them with you.

They’ll range from trying to save a truck driver trapped in his cab after a fiery crash, to being stung by jellyfish in the middle of the English Channel at night, to nearly falling out of a fifth-story window.

You may be asking yourself, “What in the world is going on here?” Well, you’ll have to keep reading to find out.

Those are just a few of the hundreds of stories I have to tell. More importantly, each one has a lesson, a moment of reflection, or a message that stayed with me. My hope is that by sharing them, you’ll find something in them that resonates with you too.

I hope you enjoy the stories, but more than that, I hope you find the positive message hidden somewhere inside each one.

Sincerely,

You’ve always seemed to inspire me, I know you have plenty of great experiences you’ve collected along you journey through this, at sometimes, a very different and difficult life. I’m am hoping I can learn and in a way, take away some advice from your memories.
